Project Overview: A strategic service design project that harnessed co-design methods to transform Ärjänsaari Island, managed by Metsähallitus (the Finnish Forest Administration), into a prominent and multifaceted nature tourism destination. Our mission centered around the rejuvenation of Ärjänsaari Island, building upon its historical camp house, and developing a comprehensive plan for its future use.
Project Goals: Our project adhered to the core principles of Metsähallitus’s operational framework, focusing on preserving the island’s natural and cultural values, enhancing accessibility, fostering profitability, and elevating it into a top-tier nature destination. To achieve these objectives, we embarked on the journey of addressing the challenges tied to the potential use and requirements of the Ärjä camp house. Throughout the entire process, we actively engaged stakeholders, valuing their input and insights.
Methodology: The project employed co-design methods, fostering collaboration and co-creation with stakeholders to ensure that the resulting service design truly reflected the needs and aspirations of Ärjänsaari’s community, visitors, and Metsähallitus.
